Allied Health Assistants (AHAs) working under the guidance of an occupational therapist can support clients in numerous ways:
- Enhancing Daily Living Skills: Supporting clients in activities such as dressing, grooming, cooking, and other daily tasks.
- Providing Equipment Support: Assisting with the use and maintenance of adaptive equipment and technology.
- Assist with Therapy Programs: Support and implement occupational therapy programs as directed by the supervising occupational therapist.
- Self-Care Retraining: Implement self-care retraining programs according to the occupational therapist’s prescriptions.
- Equipment Management: Order, provide, and demonstrate the use of basic equipment for patients/clients.
