These sessions focus on helping clients grow in areas like emotional and behavioural regulation, executive function skills, planning and organising, sensory processing, play and social skills, and self-care. The occupational therapist works closely with each client to gently guide them through challenges, helping them gain confidence, independence, and a better quality of life.

Personalised One to One Care

Our occupational therapy services focus on helping individuals improve their ability to perform everyday activities, also known as "occupations". This may include activities of daily living (ADLs) such as self-care, work-related tasks, and leisure activities. Our therapists use a variety of interventions to help individuals regain independence and improve their quality of life.

Our support services are designed to help individuals manage emotional, executive, sensory and social challenges. Our therapists use evidence-based practices to provide individualised support and help individuals develop the skills they need to become more independent.

Some of the therapy supports include:

Emotional and Behavioural Regulation
  • Emotional and behavioural regulation is the ability to recognise, understand, and manage our emotions. Struggles with this can lead to outbursts, meltdowns, or shutdowns, affecting daily activities, relationships, and personal growth.
An occupational therapist can help by providing strategies to manage emotions, build self-awareness, and develop coping skills. We assist in creating routines, identifying triggers, and teaching self-regulation techniques, empowering individuals to better manage emotions and improve their quality of life.
Executive Function Skills
  • Executive function skills help us plan, organise, focus, follow instructions, and solve problems. When these skills are lacking, tasks like planning, managing time, adapting to changes, and staying focused become challenging. This can lead to disorganisation, stress, and frustration.
Occupational therapy provides tailored strategies to improve executive function. Therapists help individuals develop planning, organisation, and time-management skills, break tasks into manageable steps, and create systems for handling distractions. This support reduces overwhelm and boosts daily functioning and confidence.
Sensory Processing
  • Sensory processing is how the brain interprets sensory information, helping us respond appropriately to our environment. When sensory processing is impaired, it can affect focus and participation in daily activities.
People with sensory challenges may experience hypersensitivity (easily overwhelmed by sounds, textures, or lights) or hyposensitivity (reduced response to sensory input, seeking intense physical activity).
Occupational therapy helps by assessing sensory needs and creating personalised strategies to manage sensory triggers, improve regulation, and adapt environments. This support improves focus, participation, and comfort in daily life.
Play and Social Skills
  • Play is important for both children and adults, offering a fun way to develop key skills. For children, play supports learning, emotional expression, self-regulation, social skills, and creativity through various forms like role play, physical activities, and imaginative play. For adults, play provides relaxation, boosts creativity, and strengthens social connections, helping reduce stress and improve well-being.
Occupational therapy uses play to help individuals build motor skills, social skills, and emotional regulation. For children, therapists create enjoyable, development-focused activities. For adults, therapy reintroduces play to reduce stress, improve cognitive skills, and enhance overall life balance.
Self-Care
  • Self-care activities include essential daily routines such as dressing, bathing, toileting, personal hygiene (like brushing teeth and washing hair), eating, and sleeping. The ability to perform these tasks independently can vary with age and developmental factors. In both children and adults, challenges in self-care may arise from difficulties with routines, focus, sleep patterns, motor skills, executive functioning, or sensory processing.
An occupational therapist can assist by providing tailored strategies to support self-care skills in both children and adults. They help improve motor coordination, develop structured routines, address sensory sensitivities, and enhance focus and independence. For adults, occupational therapy may also address age-related or medical conditions affecting self-care, empowering individuals to manage these daily tasks with greater ease and confidence.
